First time PvPing2010-03-06 00:00:00Hunters are shredding BGs after 2.3.
I ran a bunch of AB today as well, saving marks for my epic belt. Between WSG and AB I learned to hate BGs early on. Forget Alliance learning curve for pre-2.3 Hunters was bloody miserable. Add to it the fact that WSG and AB (at least in my battlegroup) are well known for being grinds towards honor gear and it was just...ugh.
Alliance performed no better in AB today. It didn't help that early in the day an exceptionally well geared Horde premade was absolutely dominating AB. I'm talking 4 or 5 caps within minutes of starting the match and the entire Alliance force pushed back to their spawn area.
But...enter the post 2.3 Hunter. Over half of the ABs I ran today, I wound up on top of the kill board for Alliance. Highest KBs and HKs. The only difference now compared to then is that I'm not utterly helpless if someone gets within 8 yards of me. The sage advice ...
I decided that I hate Kara -_-2010-03-03 00:00:00Sir Xsarus wrote:eh, with the new badge gear, kara is pretty much useless aside from badges.
This.
With 120 badges, you're very close to the ugly, but still very awesome crossbow. Once the patch finally comes, of course. So either way, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Our guild is in a different situation. All our raid hunters have Sunfury. One has WSSR. One of our tanks has Sunfury only because noone else could use it that night. We're in the process of merging with another guild, and we ran a few of their guys through tonight, and Sunfury dropped again for one of their hunters.
But Light's Justice just. Refuses. To. Drop. Our healers are so fed up with Prince it's not even funny.
And in 3 months, we got Romulo...

Blizzard: Next Gen Will Be Better for MMOGs on Consoles2009-09-07 00:00:00The situation for bringing MMOGs like World of Warcraft to consoles is pretty dismal, thinks Blizzard's Rob Pardo, but the next generation should be much better.
Asked what he thinks of bringing games like World of Warcraft to consoles, Blizzard's VP of Game Design Rob Pardo seems to have nothing good to say. There are multiple obstacles to doing it right. First, the controls: "Do you ship a keyboard and a mouse? DO you try to make a game that [adapts] to all the different controls and buttons?" Then, there's the issue of storage: "You'd have to eat almost the en...
Blizzard/Square Ban MMO Accounts2009-09-05 00:00:00Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) have become the next big thing in gaming. Sitting at the top of the MMO mountain is Blizzard Entertainment and its widely popular World of Warcraft (WoW) MMORPG. With over 5 million active players, WoW is the most popular MMORPG, but that also means that it's a popular target for hackers and cheaters.
Blizzard recently announced that the company banned approximately 59,000 WoW accounts during the month of June. These accounts were banned due to breaches in the Terms of Use Agreement and using unlicensed third-party programs to obtain gold and items. Along with the banning of nearly 60,000 accounts, over 22 million gold (the in-game currency for WoW) was also removed.
This is not the first time strict measures have been taken in an MMORPG. Square Enix recently announced that it has also banned a number of accounts in its popular Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) MMORPG. Earlier thi...
Time is money, friend!2009-09-01 00:00:00MMOs have a variety of currencies. WoW, Dungeon Runners, and dozens of other games have gold, EverQuest one-ups that with platinum, Final Fantasy has gil, and EVE Online has ISK. Like real-world economies, MMO economies can exhibit a variety of interesting characteristics, from inflation to deflation to complete death. Inflation in particular seems quite prominent; in my WoW experience, everything has gotten more expensive over time on every server I've played on. More expensive in terms of gold, that is.
Tobold argues that this inflation is, in effect, not real. His thesis is that time is the real currency of MMOs, not gold or ISK or whatever. And with respect to time, most in-game economies undergo deflation, not inflation. While it may cost me twice as much gold to buy a stack of Netherweave now as compared to when the Burning Crusade launched, I make gold five times as fast, so in fact ...
